DR. AMBROSOLI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Father Giuseppe arrived in Kalongo in 1956 to manage a small medical dispensary in the heart of Ugandan savannah. In a matter of a few years, thanks to him that small centre became a modern and efficient hospital.
Kalongo Hospital is the only health facility in a poor and isolated area, serving a total population of about 500,000 people. In 2016 it was recognized by the Ugandan Ministry of Health as the 3rd best general hospital in the country.
Father Giuseppe’s dream is not over….
ST. MARY’S MIDWIFERY TRAINING SCHOOL
In 1959, just two years after the opening of the hospital, Father Giuseppe founded the Midwifery School in Kalongo, firmly convinced of the importance of women’s education for the progress of the country: definitely a man of visionary spirit and a true forerunner of the times.
Today St. Mary’s Midwifery Training School is recognized by the Ugandan Ministry of Health as one of the best midwifery schools in the country.
